Amiga History

My entry into the world of Amiga began when I got the A500+ Cartoon Classics pack for Christmas in 1991 when I was seven. I loved that machine for years and I’m gutted that I have no idea what happened to it. I think I’ve more than made up for the loss of my childhood Amiga with my current collection though.

What Does The Hobby Mean To Me?

The Amiga has helped me to meet new people and form amazing friendships with people I would never otherwise have met. This has predominantly been via NAG meets and Twitch streaming.

It has also given me a reason to get more into electronics and hardware, which is something I’ve always had an interest in, but without any real direction or purpose, is something that I always struggled to pursue for any length of time.

Projects

My main Amiga project is Immortal Joysticks. I created a high-quality arcade style joystick which I initially custom built for people. I then ran a successful Kickstarter campaign to have them professionally manufactured. I have subsequently launch a number of products to compliment the joystick and am currently working on new products which I hope to launch through Kickstarter in the next year or so.

My Amiga Systems

  • Amiga 500+ - Normally just trapdoor RAM expansion and RGBtoHDMI, but occasionally I drop a PiStorm into it.
  • Amiga 500++ - Built from scratch myself. In a crystal clear case.
  • Amiga 600 - Sprayed orange with black keys, RGBtoHDMI, 5.5mb fast RAM, 1mb trapdoor RAM, IDE SD Hard drive, Gotek with low profile OLED screen mounted on the front of the case.
  • Amiga 1200 - TF1230, GoDrive, IDE SD Hard drive, Solas, A314-cp clockport PiZero interface, Translucent blue case with black keys.
  • Amiga CD32 - Mostly used stock but with a Kipper 2K riser card for RGB output. Occasionally I put a TF330 in there.
  • Amiga CDTV - Low profile TF536, RGBtoHDMI with DB9 joystick ports.
